ACADEMIC WRITING & TEACHING SKILLS

Academic Writing

Often in alignment with a substantive writing project, learners assess writing from a variety of perspectives to support development in content, organization, sentence construction, vocabulary usage, voice and rhetorical moves. Course content supports students in honing competence and building confidence as self-reflective writing practitioners who seek to continually improve while being informed by personal experiences giving and receiving constructive peer feedback.

Teaching Skills

Aspiring educators from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels evaluate and integrate pedagogical models and research-driven strategies for scaffolding and supporting learning. Students learn how to build and facilitate learning communities and review techniques for creating, evaluating, refining, and implementing instructional materials that support a variety of outcomes. Courses focus on strategies for achieving professional goals and aligning lesson and module sequencing with learning processes, objectives, and content.
